About The New Square Project

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud announced the launch  of the New Square Project which is an ambitious endeavor aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.

The project primarily aims to develop a new area to be a modern, innovative urban center, captivating the world. It is also part of the Kingdom’s plan to diversify the economy, enhance infrastructure, attract international investments, promote tourism, and contribute to increasing non-oil GDP by up to 180 billion riyals.

The global professional services and project management firm “Atkins Realis” was selected to execute the master plan design for the New Square Project in Riyadh, which is expected to be the largest modern downtown project in the world. 

“Atkins Realis” will also design and develop “The Cube Icon”, located at the heart of the project, which is set to become a contemporary destination redefining the experience in hospitality, commerce, and entertainment.

Description and Details of the project

First, the New Square Project is situated at the intersection of King Salman and King Khalid Roads, northwest of Riyadh, covering an area exceeding 19 km², with a built-up area of more than 25 million square meters, and a capacity accommodating hundreds of thousands of residents.

 The project is planned to include comprehensive facilities such as offices, residential areas, commercial centers, tourist places, and entertainment venues.

Besides, The project will focus on achieving sustainability standards and enhancing quality of life through integrating green spaces, providing pedestrian pathways, and promoting healthy, sports, and community activities.

The project will also feature an innovative museum, a university specializing in technology and design, a multipurpose theater, and over 80 areas designated for live performances and entertainment.

The developers of project aspire to offer a unique experience for living, working, and entertainment. This Down Town represents a significant leap in comfort and flexibility, with an internal transport system and a prime location just 20 minutes by car from the airport.

The Cube Icon

The Cube will feature the latest innovative technologies and unique features,  like the three dimensions of the cube are 400 meters. The distinctive geometric shape of the Cube will accommodate the project’s details and its specialized technologies.

The exterior façade of the Cube will be inspired by the modern Najdi architectural style, forming a creative technological display. Inside, the Cube will provide an exceptional experience through digital and virtual technologies, the latest in holographic imaging. The Cube will encompass a floor area exceeding two million square meters, serving as a hospitality destination, along with residential and hotel units, commercial spaces, and entertainment facilities, showcased atop a mesmerizing spiral base and numerous visitor attractions.
